In China, with so many people walking the streets every day, this is a serious problem, which is probably why Xiaomi came up with an innovative solution, but at the same time it seems to be very simple and functional.
The exact name of the device is "anti-loss bracelet" and as you can see it is nothing more than a bracelet that the child must wear with the parent who accompanies it. The bracelet has a two-way closure, ie through a velcro layer thanks to a buckle that allows a more secure closure. In addition, there is a mini lock that can be locked with a special key and therefore, any attempt by the child to release it will fail. The bracelet then has an inner cushion that prevents injury to both parent and child.

As for the cable that holds the two connected bracelets, it is a category 301 steel wire with PU outer plastic coating that makes it more pleasing to the eye and much less dangerous. In practice it is almost like an economical bicycle chain, but instead of bicycles it tries to keep young children safe.
Seriously, it seems like a very useful gadget at least in Asia, but we are not sure that in Europe it will sell much, regardless of whether it costs only 39 yuan (5 €).
