The obvious advantage of this proposal that Apple composes in its patent is an iPhone that will use as a screen its entire frame. Apple's weird patent has already been accepted by US Patent Office, with the title "Electronic device with glass enclosure" and refers to an electronic device that exhibits six different areas of image and content projection on a single glass surface.
Apple has even come up with some ideas on how this glass iPhone could be assembled and disassembled for repair. The phone could possibly be disassembled by removing a so-called "lid" (as mentioned in the patent) from the top or bottom of the iPhone, allowing the device components to be exposed to the outside.
