AMD: Xbox Series X GPU source code stolen by Hacker

A hacker appears to have stolen his graphic source code Xbox Series X and holds it to ask for liters.

Τa new is coming via a post on the AMD website, where the hardware company explained the situation. "Contact us, someone who claimed to have test files related to a subset of our current and future graphics products," the statement said.

According to a report by TorrentFreak, this stolen data was found on a damaged computer and contains the source code for large drives AMD GPU, Navi and Arden. The latest is rumored to be the GPU of the 12 teraflop Xbox Series X.

Parts of the code have been posted on GitHub, and of course they have since been removed. The hacker demands $ 100 million for the code and threatens to reveal all the stolen data if no buyer is found.

The fact that AMD issues disaster notification where DMCA data was stored indicates that this is a lawful violation. Later in the official statement, AMD made it clear that the stolen data "is not essential to the competitiveness or security of our graphics products".

The same user also posted the supposed source code for AMD's Navi 10 and Navi 21, which will be used on the company's Radeon graphics cards. Whether the files are true remains unknown. However, AMD filed two alerts with the DMCA to force GitHub to remove the copyright infringement files.

The culprit behind the leak he spoke with TorrentFreak and claims to have stolen the GPU source code from a hacked computer. "The source code was unexpectedly obtained from an unprotected computer / server through some exploit. Then I discovered the files in it. They were not even properly protected or even encrypted, which is a pity "He said.

Finally, in an email, the hacker also spoke to PCMag and said: "I have not spoken to AMD about the breach because I'm sure that instead of acknowledging her mistake and moving on with her life, she will try to sue me, so why not leak it to everyone?"

AMD did not respond to a request for comment, but said in a statement: "does not know if the perpetrator owns other AMD IPs".
