Η China's state news service, Xinhua, proves that it can take advantage of modern technology to do its job. The service created the first "Artificial Intelligence presenters”In collaboration with Sogou, which can be used to announce news 24 hours a day on TV and the Internet, thus reducing costs and improving their performance.
They used to create them machine learning technology who analyzed material from human presenters and then incorporated animations for mouth and face movements while the voices were synthesized via computer. Artificial Intelligence presenters can read the news more naturally and faster than the traditional CGI.
In this first phase they have two presenters, with the English speaker obviously having enough work to look and sound normal, but the more data available to the machine learning algorithm, the better its performance will be.
