ΤProblems with the production and availability of sufficient quantities of Intel Core and Xeon processors to meet the growing demand are now well known. These problems have resulted in a significant increase in popular Intel Core processor models in the market, leading consumers to turn to AMD solutions for their next system, according to the latest data from the German Mindfactory.de.
The Mindfactory.de is probably the only major store that publishes the number of pieces of each product it sells. This enables someone who will have the time and appetite to monitor and record the sales of a product. These sales are, of course, a mere indication of what is being sold directly to the final consumer, not what companies like Intel and AMD are selling directly to major manufacturers (OEMs) such as HP and Dell, for example.
September figures show a surge in AMD processor sales due to the corresponding price spike in the most popular Intel processor models. The result is that the percentage of AMD processors sold by Mindfactory.de in September reached 65% of the total, compared to just 35% of Intel processors. In fact, if we limit ourselves to the last ten days of September, the percentage of AMD seems to be moving above 70%. Of course, this does not mean that AMD is suddenly occupying more than 70% of the market. Mindfactory.de is just one store and in addition Intel mainly, but also AMD, sell significantly larger quantities of processors directly to the major computer manufacturers, compared to the quantities they sell through stores to us end consumers.

Intel a few days ago actually admitted the problem, however, hastened to stress that this is due to the increase in computer sales for the first time since 2011, while reassuring its shareholders that it continues to go for record revenue this year. He even announced that he intends to invest an additional one billion dollars in production, in order to address the shortages. Until this increase in production is seen in the market, of course, it may be some time before prices on Intel Core processors remain high. However, what those who are thinking of setting up a computer during this time should pay attention to is the increase in the average prices of AMD Ryzen processors. Although the minimum values remain generally stable in the above diagrams of the Ryzen models, the increases, even small ones in the average values, are not something positive.
